Getting there just been busy I need to mount a better dab aerial as it’s Censored - if you go the external dac route you lose fm but dab works must be some weird setup they have but happy with carplay etc love the big screen with google maps

Edit: if I were to do it again I would a) make Sure I buy with PayPal b) when I receive it connect it all up and see if there is any interference at all - if there is it’s likely not the most box and is raise a dispute with the vendor rather than mess with the external dac - although quality is superb with it there are a couple of draw backs - fm as mentioned and the fact of the system makes a sound it stops the music while it plays wothout dac it merges these... Current stable:

Still the same need to do the Dab , new issue
With the wireless carplay if you pair two phones (mine and wife’s) and we both get in the car it wiggs out and won’t connect to any but works fine plugged in. Current stable:

Hi Dan,

Thank you for all the info and the very informative thread.
Just a couple of questions...

You used an Android unit made for the 2002-2005 MY and just added the MOST Fiber Optic Amp Interface, correct?
The link for the Android unit on your initial post doesn't work any more...
Still unhappy with the sound quality?

The Canbus for the steering wheel controls worked even though it was designed for the earlier models, correct?
Same connector?
Do you have the Resler I-Bus interface?

The main connector: jaguar m to iso f connector and then a bmw f to iso m
So, if I understand correctly, the Android unit has the bmw m quadlock connector and the car has the jaguar f ? Any links?
What about the clock?
Did you move the old unit to the glovebox?
And why the 5m fiber-optic extension cable?

Also, what do you think about this unit?

It's supposed to have a MOST fiber injector and some sort of interface for the 4X4 info...
Poorly documented though and a bit expensive.

And lastly, does anyone have any experience with the Conects2 module?

So that AliExpress one is basically the same as the erisin style 10.25 units you can pick ups for around £220 and it has the rca to most adapter.

Resler interface half works but not enough to set the time. When you connect those harnessses together you will see the wire going to the ibus pin is missing from the jag connector understandably so I ran that to the clock ibus and with that the steering controls etc work great

If you loop out the existing most cables you can use them but for the sake of £20’and ease I just bought a mew long one.

Have you though about losing your rear screens?

Thanks for the info Dan really helpful.

This is very good news, it opens up a whole range of possible head units.
The biggest mystery for me was the connectors.

I still can't understand the need for the long fiber optic cable but haven't got inside the dash yet.
In guess once I'm there it will be self evident.
I don't have rear screens, so no problem there.

I don't have access to the car right now (long story), I am picking it up next month.

The other reason for the long fibre cable is you need to leave all the original units in the boot if any one of those fails it will take out the most ring so for extra security and so I could remove them the dedicated cable was the way for me Current stable:

Ok, I see now, makes very good sense.
So, if I understood correctly, you removed the Navigation unit, CD charger and the original Head unit and run the 4m fiber optic cable from the MOST Amp Interface module all the way back to the MOST Amp in the trunk? Aristides.

Correct if you can get a slightly longer one it is better as it’s very tight at that length Current stable:

5m is enough its. little tight so you may need to spend some time routing it in different ways for optimal routing but it will work. Current stable:

Right update on this - since the use of the dac after the built in audio failed the telephone quality was very poor and the fm radio would not work.

I lived with it as everything else was great.

Anyway sold a few bits on here and the money was burning a hole in my pocket and the lack of fm has been somewhat annoying, so I bought a new one from a uk seller so I theoretically get 12months warranty and it’s all through PayPal.

This is very similar to the original unit but there is a slope to the edges it’s not quite as flat as the last one I had so finish is slightly worse although still very good.

Luckily the unit just has the standard black BMW plug on the back so I plugged my jag > iso > Bmw harness in with the ibus and if ignition move t’d in, and plugged the most box back in where it belonged.

Fired up the car and all is working, the carplay is built in but wired not a big issue I liked the wireless but hey ho, radio works now and volumes are all good, my only current issue is siri won’t work in carplay so have gone back to erisin, but overall this is a far less complicated install and this is a tablet style unit so with the right harness is pretty much plug and play without hacking the unit up Current stable:

if you have an hse a monkey could fit it if its a vogue you will need to route a 5 m extension cable from the entertainment corner of the boot up to the screen.

it won't need any wired badger though just plug said cable in. You may need to fabricate a mount for it so it doesn't fall in the hole or it may go straight in no issues. Current stable:
