Acceptable Tyre Age

Would you buy new, but 4 year old tires to fit to your vehicle? They have been stored inside and are Avons. Thanks in advance.

If the price was right I'd buy them, especially if I intended putting them to good use and wearing them out in 2-3 years. 2017 SDV8 Autobiography

Tyres have a shelf life of 5 years. After this the compounds that are in them can harden and start to degrade. The speed and severity of the degradation depend on factors such as temperature, exposure to UV, air moisture content etc etc.

I would check the tyres over and if you are happy and they are a good price I would go ahead and have them fitted.
