IID TOOL BT

I have been using the original IID Tool one in conjunction with the dash display and steering wheel buttons for the last few years.
This week I bought a 3rd generation IID Tool BT and want to use it with a hand held screen.
Could you advise which one you use and any pitfalls to watch out for when I buy one, ie using it connected to the
tablet.
Many Thanks
Peter

I successfully use a Tesco Hudl2 8" tablet on Android 6 & Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10" tablet on Android 9.

I tried & repeatedly failed with my Samsung Galaxy S7 Android phone - whatever level of Android the App just repeatedly crashes.
Gap support tried numerous times to understand what was wrong with the phone, but we jointly agreed to give up ! Paul,

Thanks,
Thats really useful information, I suspected that to mix and match screens to the unit would'nt be
just a case of "plug and play".

If you've got an Android or Apple smart phone, you've got nothing to lose if you just download the App from the relevant App store & try it as it's free. There's a demo mode in the App that shows how it should work / look.
The acid test is then whether it works properly when connected to your new Iid BT when you use it in the car. The smartphone interface is perfectly useable for viewing the App info.
If it doesn't work, borrow a cheap tablet and try that. Paul,

Thanks Paul,
Just to clarify, when you use the IDD Tool do you always use the Bluetooth function or use the supplied lead.
or a mixture of both depending on the work being done?.

With the iid BT you always use the Bluetooth connection to your mobile device.
The supplied Mini USB lead is only to connect the tool to your PC for updating the tool Firmware Paul,

Thanks Mike,
That display is so much better and easier to read than the strip display under the speedo.
All I have to do now is source and buy a suitable hand held device.

I used my Honor 9 Lite without any issues and also my current Oneplus 3T. For me, a phone is much more convenient than a tablet and the screen is more than adequate.

Do you have either an Android or Apple phone? The Honor 9 is a low end device but worked very well. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Its worth remembering that GAP are Canadian and therefore probably do everything using Apple products? Just a thought? Thumbs Up

Hi Strider. Your Samsung Galaxy Alpha would almost certainly work just fine. Connect it to WiFi and you'll be sorted. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

I have the app on both IPhone and IPad and use whichever is closest to hand.
