Wheel Size Question: P565 SVAutobiography Dynamic 5.0

Hi all,

I'm soon to be getting an SVAutobiography Dynamic like the pictures below with silly sized wheels which are far too bling for my linking.

What's the smallest wheels I can fit, could it go down to 20" like on my friends SDV8 or would 21" be the smallest?

I also want to fit some proper tyres like Wrangler Duratrac or similar and not sure they go up to 21"

I'll also be replacing the funny RANGE ROVER badges on the front and back for plain silver ones!

Many thanks.

You’re OK with the bling vents, exhausts and red callipers though ? Laughing

Whilst you could physically fit 20’s and wranglers, you’d need to check with your insurance. I’m not sure the wranglers would have the right speed rating.

Are there no 20” options on the configurator with the SVA ? Will the supplying dealer not swap them for you ?

Sounds like you might have ordered the wrong car...... Whistle

Personally I just don't get your desire to fit Wrangler Duratrac tyres on that car..... They will not improve handling on the road, will be noisy and not have similar braking qualities as the RR approved tyres. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Current

Well the vents and the calipers are harder and more expensive to change so I'll start with the easier things.

I am well aware of the speed ratings and have them on my current range rover. I may go for the General AT3 as the speed rating is higher at 130 but they're not as good off road.

As for ordering the wrong car, I wanted the fastest model but don't need the big wheels and still want to be able to drive in a muddy field pulling a trailer and not get stuck.

I think I know my requirements a little better than you but thanks for the input!

I have used wranglers on my current range rover for the last 3 years with absolutely no problems and in fact have been impressed with their road performance for such a heavy vehicle. I've explained my reasons above.

I'm looking for facts as to whether the 20" wheels will clear the calipers, not speculation as to whether I'm buying the right vehicle!

Cheers Ner Ner

As someone who has 20" winter wheels with Goodyear Duratracs on a 5.0SC, I entirely understand what you want to do.

Like you I had noticed that the SVA-D cannot be configured with 20" wheels, but the spec lists do not suggest the discs or calipers are any different (incidentally you can configure with black calipers if you don't like red) so the only possible thing would be the lower suspension on the SVA-D. I'd ask the supplying dealer to find out from LR if they do not already know. It might just be a styling thing, or maybe the extra stability of the bigger wheels is thought desirable for the extra performance of the SVA-D, as you know the RR is only rated to 155 mph with 22" wheels, 135 mph with 20" or 21" (of course the Duratracs in 255/55R20 are 99mph only anyway).

Good luck.

PS, re the comment from 4434Morrison, Duratracs are LR homologated tyres, subject to a warning about adhering to the lower speed rating - see ownerinfo.landrover under "winter tyres" I think. Only Range Rovers since 1988

This is a good website and shows that the 20" wheels are OK for the SC Autobiography, but not the SVA which is 21/22" only

Nice to see that the place where Maurice Wilks drew the first design study for the Land Rover in the sand (Red Wharf beach on Anglesey) is attracting the present ultimate development of that project. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Well I've fitted 20" mini turbines with Duratracs and the ride is much smoother and no issues. I think it looks better too and they hide the red calipers pretty well.

Very nice, I like those 20" "mini turbines". Much difference in the quality of the ride as opposed to the 22"? I'm still ummming about swapping mine to those 20" instead of the ones fitted.
