Yep, they have been darting back and forth from Bournemouth Bay for months - cheaper than being in port .

Not enough room in the ports - they're spread Portsmouth to Plymouth.

It reminds me of the Merchant Sea / dockers strike in the early 1960’s ? when all merchants ships returned to their home port .

Was surreal, ended up on the beach it looked as though the ships were a few hundred meters out, was cool to see the Q Mary 2, proper ocean liner!

The business model requires them to work 365 days a year, how long before they sink their owners. letters not necessarily in the right order |

I visited Maderia a couple of years ago and from up the hills looking down to the sea out from Funchal, cruise ships were lining up to enter the port as far as you could see. I think I counted 20 through binoculars.

We have several of them rotating around Poole/Bournemouth bay, a very weird sight to have them so close inshore. I've taken the RIB across several times in the evenings to see them up close, but we never seem to get the Cunard Queens! |
