DVLA....

Evening peeps!

Sort of RR related (waiting for private plate)

Long story short, purchased an L322 4.4 with the incorrect details on the logbook. Got the correct details from LR specialist vehicles, filled out the logbook with the updated details and the evidence to back up, sent this along with the logbook to the DVLA halfway through May. In the meantime bought a private plate for the car which arrived in 3 days (V750) directly from the DVLA.

Issue I have, I still haven’t received the logbook back, DVLA can’t give me any updates as to how long I’m going to have to wait, they can’t even tell me if they’ve received it. I’ve tried contacting them asking them to cancel the application to change the details when they see it and supply me with the V5c reference number. Arrogant member of staff said, sorry you’ll have to wait

I completely understand the situation we’re in but the way they’re dealing with stuff like this is appalling,

Does anyone happen to know any other way to obtain the V5c reference number? Any tricks of the trade or insider knowledge, I’m getting desperate now as I’ve had to turn away 3 potential interested parties as they can’t afford to wait

Thanks guys n girls, any help greatly received

AFAIK the V5 reference number changes every time something on it changes so even if you have/can get the reference number on the V5 you sent to DVLA then the replacement will have a different number.

You could try phoning DVLA again & hope you get someone helpful, personally, I've found the staff there pretty good most of the time. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

There’s a backlog for all postal applications , but online aren’t really impacted.
I had a first registration application (postal only) in from early May and just got the V5, so you probably only have a week or so to wait .

Also was told fairly directly that it will take as long as it takes when I called , but the V5 arrived within a week of calling so hopefully you’ll have similar 4.2 SC - sold , now bought back

Thanks for the replies guys

I could try the welsh speaking idea, problem is I can’t even get my calls to connect to speak to them lol

It’s just annoying that I purchased the plate through the DVLA directly and it arrived in 3 days. Guess that’s all online hence why it was so quick

Maybe this will be the kick up the a** the DVLA need to make all their systems online
