1p fuel tax cut, whats the bloody use of 1p!!!!! it should have been a massive cut!! justed watched a BBC news segment when they were at a fuel stations and the price of 1 litre of diesel was £1.47!!!

I've seen fuel prices jump 7p in this area in the last week, the penny off will make F'all differance!

Are you all crazy? What were you expecting, remember this is instead of a 5 pence increase which was supposed to take place on 1st April!

Sure it would be nice if the petrol price was cut massively, it would be really nice if the country wasn't billions of pounds in debt too! It would be nice if fairies existed and gave us all brand new Range Rovers!

In some ways it's a waste of time. In some ways it's a whole lot better than it going up by 4p.
What will be interesting is to see if prices drop if the price of oil drops in the future.

Quite laughable - last saturday my local was £1.38 a litre and today it was £1.41 --- so knock a penny off and whos still winning ? - certainly not us

No doubt the oil companies will up the price to offset the new tax, so have no doubt we will end up paying even more.

The increase in business milage allowance to 45 pence per mile is a welcome surprise, even if it was well overdue.

might as well be because in a few days the price will have risen again as the oil price will go up again so we will be back at the level it would have been if we had been hit with the 1p increase and the 4p of the fuel stabiliser. So it really does not make a difference they are just slowing the eventual rise

So technically I earn an extra 5p per mile and save 6p per litre (5p increase dropped and 1p reduction) Used to have:

Now have:
2008 SSRR 3.6 TDV8 - HSE and plenty of toys

Moan, moan, moan... Considering the inherited from the last 10 years of suppoprting an ever increasing f***ing lazy pikey society (may seem extreme, but my views of benefit spongers) I personally think that it's not bad going.

Don't consider it a 1p drop, better to think of it as a 6p drop instead (5p was going to be added, remember). Also will have to wait and see how extra fuel comapny tax is passed on or if the government is going to properly stabilise the fuel price at the pumps.

Also remember the government does not have any direct control of the open market price of oil. They didn't ask for the trouble in Lybia (holding 20-25% of world oil reserves) - this is going to have a massive impact on oil price. Yes, I know they do have a control over the tax level of oil, but debts have to be paid in some way. Would you rather income tax goes through the roof? At the end of the day if you don't use so much fuel you don't pay the tax...?

In my opinion, again, be nice to get cars off the road. It's not a right but a priviledge, if you can't aford to run a car don't. If you can't afford to run a big car, get a smaller one.

I heard Ed Balls on the radio this morning - he just would not answer any of the questions about how the country got into this fine debt mess - he was happy to tell us about what Labour inherited in 1997, the way that germany/Spain(??)/France and the USA pulled themselves into growth, but no way would he say anything about either how Labour would extricate us from the situation or how they would have done things differently. In fact he is almost a debt crisis deny-er! Well we've not saved 6p or 4p or even 3p per litre

100 litres in April 2010 = £119.90
100 litres in February = £126.90
100 litres yesterday = £132.9
100 litres today = £131.90

So with inflation standing at an all time high of 4.4% the fuel should be no more than £125.9 per litre from last Aprils prices.

The government hasn't given us anything they're shafting us 6p a litre over inflation prices
