My 4 year old son, or Little Lord Fauntleroy as I call him, loves his rear executive cooled and massaging rear seat with position memory (1 is upright, 2 fully reclined), comfort pillow and Signature hifi. Bless him. Sometimes he jokes the music is too loud or his bladder is too full. Needy fellow.

BUT is Little Lord Fauntleroy‘s electrically deployed centre console certified human vomit-proof? I mean, I checked the brochure, the manual, honestly Land Rover are pretty tight lipped about this,

So I went on a trip to the Swiss Alps to find out. With the generous breakfasts, sweeping alpine turns, and a roly poly P400e in tow all I had to do was strap the wee Lord into the back and put the pedal to the metal.

Slightly off topic, years ago a good mate of mine used to have a Mk1 Ford Escort Van that he used to cart around his groups gear, he and his brother had a trio.

Anyway, his dad used to sell at a local farmers market and Paul one weekend had to take his van to the local suppliers to get goods, he had (I think ) around 80 trays of eggs in the back of his van, it was a hot summer weekend and you guessed it, he was a bit over enthusiastic in his driving, braked too hard and eighty trays of eggs launched themselves from the back of the van and were stopped by the seat backs (he had modded the van and put nice Corbeau seats in !)

By the time he got home the hot weather had done its job and his van was known as the Omelette from then on. Took him ages to get rid of the smell!!

RESULT: You cynical bunch! YES, all the electrical features of the centre console work just fine. This is despite some 'liquid' getting into the button areas.

To clean, we used kitchen towelling and some gentle baby wipes. The car as Gtechniq interior protection. Aside from the wood and the open cup holders, the leather took the brunt of it. Some of the stitching requires another go which will do tomorrow. A tiny amount on the carpet also needs another go.

In terms of smell, all I can smell is leather. Maybe the protection, maybe because we cleaned up so fast... not sure. But I am very thankful!

A CO2 fire extinguisher works well on electronics that are suffering from water ingress, it blasts out the moisture and then evaporates with no residue... works great on cola or similar sticky drink on keyboards...  Pete

I am very glad to hear that the rear survives this sort of treatment so well Ilard. Currently travelling with my 5year and 3 year olds in the rear of mine (acquired a couple of weeks ago). Loving the experience thus far, but it’s only a matter of time before my wee Lords unload on the centre console too. Did you do the Gtechniq yourself Ilard, or get someone to do it for you?

I had a full Gtechniq package done at Bellissimoto https://www.bellissimoto.co.uk, and I would definitely advocate both the interior and exterior protection. I can't remember the price, but over a grand, and it will have a £300 or £400 maintenance package annually. That said, for interior protection, it does not look complicated to apply it yourself (unlike paint protection), but it only lasts 1 year.

I have decided to buy some sick bags for next time. You could also drape a blanket over the console, potentially, but given this recent test they seem to be pretty resilient electrically-speaking.

Putting the P400e into Dynamic mode (if you can call it that!) does help a little with the roll but you lose the lovely squidgy softness which I much prefer in a straight line. I have just done 3000 or 4000 miles and I generally left it in Auto mode which generally means it's in Comfort the whole time.

Note, if you engage the child locks, then it inhibits the rear doors, windows, centre console and (if I remember) also the rear seat functions. Possible climate too, so it's very locked down which is either a good or bad think depending on your view point and the naughtiness of the child. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Many years ago I had a similar instance with my eldest - a rather large amount of vomit deposited in the rear but in those days it was simple just hosed it down god bless the Classic
