United Kingdom 2015 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Firenze Red
Please.....help me decide

Guys,

I am just about to buy my first FFRR and have narrowed my search down to two cars and would like the benefit of your vastly superior knowledge on these cars to make the best decision I can.

Choice is:

Vogue SE 4.4 SDV8 for £36000 with 46773 miles from Main Dealer (Roger Young in Saltash). Car is 2015 (4/3/15)
Full main dealer SH at Roger Young
Peace of mind of Main Dealer back up should anything go wrong etc.
Offered £12,000 for my current D4 in px.

Vogue AB 4.4 SDV8 for £34995 with 47000 miles from Sprys of Launceston. Car is 2014 (27/3/14)
Main dealer SH upto 2018 but missing 2019? Car will be serviced & MoT prior to buying in accordance with LR service schedule etc. (80,000/60 month service)
12 month warranty included comparable to LR approved used warranty.
Offered £15,000 for my D4 in px.

Any advice or tips would be very much appreciated.

Neil

Be careful if you do want euro6. I’m pretty sure they’re only from 65 plate so September 2015 onwards. If it’s euro 6 it will have add blue refill in the n/s front wing.

If Euro 6 is a deal breaker for you, be careful about ‘must be a 2015 car’ views. A 2015 registered car doesn’t automatically mean it will be Euro 6. It depends on other factors:-

From the current RAC website:
“The sixth and current incarnation of the Euro emissions standard was introduced on most new registrations in September 2015. For diesels, the permitted level of NOx has been slashed from 0.18g/km in Euro 5 to 0.08g/km... Important note: as the Jaguar website helpfully explains, 'individual vehicles already on sale that were built by, and dispatched from, the manufacturer before 1st June 2015 can continue to be sold until 1st September 2016'. This in effect means that a car sold before 1st September 2016 may still have a Euro 5 engine. Check with the manufacturer to be certain.“

The red RR you’re looking at (WL15) was registered in March 2015. If you type the registration number into one of the Euro 6 checker sites or the Gov.UK clean air zone checker, it tends to confirm that this car would attract charges in any places that are designated clean air zones (either current zones or future zones).

The dark coloured 2014 AB is a beautiful looking car (very very smart) if it’s condition and history are as good as the advert looks at a glance.

I’ll perhaps be in the minority on here. Euro 5 doesn’t bother me at all. We don’t all live in London or cities where daily charges would be incurred; and if visiting such places, wouldn’t necessarily want to take a RR anyway (for example, to London... might get damaged... that’s why they invented city cars 🤣

Buy the red one.

Infinitely more interesting looking car.....

Be aware the AB has a deplorable tow bar. If you don’t need that then there really isn’t very much between them, apart from the wheels. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Not bothered about the Euro 6 stuff as ULEZ hasn’t found its way into Cornwall thank goodness.

As for the choice, even with more up front for our D4 the overall cost of both cars was similar enough for me to decide on the 2015 SE. Don’t really see too many Firenze colour FFRR down this way, and it’s one owner from new and supplied by Roger Young. The dealer is only 5 min walk from my home too so all in its hopefully the better bet.

I agree on the wheels, not my favourite so might look for a set of 21’s Style 101 with the diamond finish.

Thanks for the advice and comments, I look forward to being an active member of the forum, with our FFRR in the next few weeks.

When you say that the Roger Young car is a ”Vogue AB”, is it a Vogue, or an Autobiography?

An ex customer of Roger Young’s here as my last experiences there, especially sales, weren’t entirely positive 🙁 Doing away with hand valets and putting customer’s cars through a concealed rollover car wash went down very badly when I found that they’d put my 18 month old car through it.
