Has anybody got park assist.

I have it in my sdv8 and I’ve only tried it once.
Scared me a bit and I had to hold off from taking over the wheel.

If you have it do you use it often or is it one of those things that seem like a good idea but...[/i]

Edit. Was on the car when I bought it, wasn’t something I decided that I wanted.

I’ve got it and gave it a go this morning, only had the car 2 weeks. It was just to see how good it was and the answer is that it’s OK, but quicker to park yourself as they’re pretty easy to park with the surround cameras and dipping mirrors.

I had it in my 7 series for the last 2 years and only used that once as well. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Had it on my Jag F Pace and it’s also on the Mini JCW I have. Used it a few times on each car and then didn’t bother. I could get the cars into smaller spaces believe it or not and it always parked too far from the kerb; I park on the street in a narrow road, so those extra 6 or so inches matter. It’s an interesting gadget, but not essential. As Martin says, the surround cameras are really good and more useful.

I've got it and tend to only use it outside my dads if I park on the road. Found it gets into some very tight spots, so tight I wouldn't want the Mrs using it because I doubt she would get back out.

Only thing I've found is to hold it back and keep the speed right down otherwise its pot luck where you end up in relation to the curb, 2ft on or taxi to the curb. Current

Works ok. I use it for tight spots as I do not want to kerb the wheels.
Majority of the time I avoid parking in tight spots so the use is very minimal.

Funny story, a friend had this on his 12MY 405 and his wife was elated to find the “new car” would “park itself” right up until she had to get said car back out of the space it had parked itself in!!! Rolling Eyes Whistle

On more than one occasion she had to be rescued Laughing Laughing Laughing

Good old JLR... Make a car that will self park, and not un-park itself!!! Rolling Eyes

Parking aids are fine & a good safety feature but "self parking" cars really ?

If you need this feature then you are either lazy or too incompetent to be entrusted with a vehicle.

No wonder driving standards are going down the pan. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

The facelifted cars have un-park functionality, I've tried that as well and it works.

I can't see myself using either again though. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

I have this feature on the VW Sharan. I have used the park and the unpark a few times. But my biggest use of the system was for it to tell me if it could park in the space and then do it myself. I would try smaller spaces than I would have thought but could do it. I assume I would use it the same way on the RR...

I also have it on the Mini and think I have got it to park itself once to check the feature. For the Mini I really don't see the reason for it...

I have it on my MY SDV8 but I never used or tried it. Confused Reason of no use on my Range is that I park always far away from other cars in order to avoid damages.

I ordered it because I had good experience with it on the VW Golf of my wife. 2017 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 silicon silver

When I had the Jag I would use it to see if it would fit in the gap. More often than not I could get the car into a space the machine said wouldn’t fit. It could also unpack itself if necessary.

Agree with you on the Mini. Ours was an ex demonstrator and we would never have chosen self park as an option. Like you, we’ve use it once.

Does it come as standard on the AB? If so, I have it but haven’t used it!
