L405 replacement tyre choice

I'm after some advice if someone can please help me.

My L405 SDV8 has been fitted with Continental Cross Contact LX Sport 275/50/22 108Y from new and needs two new tyres, possibly 4 if I can stretch to it. I'm very happy with the Conti's and I know there is a lot of personal choice but should I be considering something else? Also, if I change to Pirelli or Michelin do I need to inform my insurance company and might LR get mardy when they service it and tell me they are not original equipment?

Any suggestions and information would be appreciated.

By the way, I have a full size spare - same Continental as those fitted.

Inform Insurance - nope, as long as the tyres are of the correct spec, ie weight, speed,, you'll be fine.

If you're only after a couple, then new ones of the same type as fitted would be fine.

Personally, as per recent threads this week, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 is a great option, I've now got and had 3 cars equipped with then and am a complete unapologetic fanboy Mr. Green thats fanboy not fannyboy lads Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Just don't put cack tyres on you'll be fine. Acceleras anyone Whistle Whistle

I've had Pirelli Scorpions, (tyre fitted now), continentals, Goodyear Eagle F1, all recommended tyres for the FF. I did buy my 1st FF with budget tyres on, great on a dry road but lethal in the wet, hence they soon came off for a set of Good year eagle F1's. Its not worth saving a few quid on joke tyres so I would stick with the well known makes. Thumbs Up

Who ‘recommends’ the Goodyear’s ?

The Pirelli’s and Continentals were factory fit, but nothing else AFAIK

I like to keep my tyres the same - I’m a bit OCD like that - and try to replace all 4 together - I wouldn’t even like a mismatched spare, but I really need to get over that......

I may well go Michelin PS4’s next time as Tee has got me hooked too since I put a set on our Mini, but I’m a year or more away from a decision.

If you’re only doing 2 though, I’d stick to Contis

Is the spare new ? If so, stretch to 3 and put the best of the existing into the boot Thumbs Up

I read the above as referring to 22” tyres Stan... 👍

I’m a guessing you would have bought new take off 20”s and there were many of them available as Goodyear 👍

Pirelli Scorpions for both of mine, cheap tyres is not a good move in my opinion.

Contis are good but i found them to be noisy even the conti silents on my two L405s so i still with scorpions

As far as I know the Goodyear’s came off a an L405, were 21 inch and fitted to my last l322. I really liked those tyres and only swapped them for scorpions once worn as they had a better deal on offer at the time, but I would use them again no problem. Got 40k miles out of them.

Once I have my car I will be about to report about them. They will only a couple of months use before I have put on Winter tyres.
