Removal of upper tailgate interior trim

I had my rear windscreen smashed last week, and some of the broken glass has fallen down behind the upper tailgate trim so every time I open the boot you get this distinct rattle as it moves.

The window screen company told me that the plastic trim is resined onto the metal boot so they cannot remove it and clear the broken glass out. Does anyone know if that’s true? Or how to remove the trim so I can hoover it out?

Unfortunately they are correct, only the bottom section is removable.

Oh wow that’s a bit naff! It will definitely effect resale value. I might have to contact the insurers then and see if they will replace the tailgate as what they have done is clearly not satisfactory.
