My 2003 L322 was regassed a couple of weeks ago as it wasnt blowing cold.

On the journey home and over the next couple of days it was lovely and cold.

A week afterwards it didnt appear to be blowing cold, so it went back and they went over the whole lot with a lot of dye and spent ages looking for leaks and nothing found.

...again, a couple of days later and its not blowing cold, so it has got a leak somewhere.

Tonight I went outside with a UV light and had a look for myself. I reckon I can see small areas of the dye at the front of the AC rad in various places.

Is this a fairly common problem, and are the joints to the rad easy to seal up if I replace it?

Clearly you have a very small leak. It is likely, this could be fixed with a sealant from Halfords. Our Smart car used to lose all air con efficiency over a 4 month period. I used the sealant, and 6 years later, it's still going strong. It's in Corfu so during the summer, you have to have efficient air con. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged

If the OP can see the leak then he may as well fix it properly, leak sealer is a temporary repair which as you have found can work for a long time..... sometimes.... Pete

Had exactly the same problem about 3 weeks ago. I though it might be the condenser but local specialist diagnosed a corroded pipe which was £49. 2017 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography

OP said the leak was at the front of the condenser in various places, the pipes are on one side only and at the top so I expect it's the condenser..  Pete
