Its unlikely to be a fault with the park brake itself so my guess is either an ABS sensor or the steering angle sensor is the cause. If either an ABS sensor or the steering angle sensor is considered unreliable then the emergency function of the park brake won't be available and therefore the park brake will show a warning rather than faulty.
