No More SDV8?

Hello,
Was talking to my local garage about a test drive. Before I buy the other car (they don't know that).
The salesman said you can't order the SDV8 new anymore. I don't know if he was lying to me to try and sell me something else. I just though I would share it.
He also wants to sell me a black one even though I said I don't like black. I am happy that the car I am buying isn't with him.
You can still configure the car with that engine on the website.

I've not heard anything, but it can't be too long before the big fossil fuel engines are dropped in favour of smaller hybrids.

I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if it makes it into the replacement model

Yes, the SDV8 is being dropped and replaced by a 350hp version of the 6 cylinder engine. The new base 6 pot will have 300hp bringing it in line with the Discovery and RR Sport.

So no SDV8 in the next model, as Ford don’t make it for any other car.

That’s what I’ve read.

I know for the new model, but the salesman was saying no more even for the current lineup...but this doesn't really affect me...

That is very sad, I had hoped it would stay until they discontinued the 405 and I would buy one of the last with an enormous discount. letters not necessarily in the right order

Interestingly, the SDV8 is still on the configurator.

I see that the claimed CO2 emission figures have gone up again for a second time; they were around 210-220 when I bought mine in September 2017, they went up to 240 something when the new testing regime arrived and now they are quoted at 280g. What happened there?

It’s coming up to 3 years and 84,000 miles old and normally I’d be looking about for a replacement around now. This is the first ever occasion where I’ve no interest at all in ever parting with a current car and the loss of the SDV8 (and the catastrophic CO2 figures on remaining stock) are just the icing on the cake Rolling Eyes

I can understand why they are dropping the SDV8 as diesel is now seen as the fuel of the Devil Twisted Evil and modern petrol engines are way more efficient.

Looking ahead, I hope that they will keep the 5.0 petrol V8 in some form, probably mated to an electric motor. Although I expect that a smaller capacity petrol V8 with a couple of turbochargers bolted on will be on the horizon as that's what everyone else seems to be doing Yawn
