Hi all

I have a e-mountain bike and it’s 25kg. The Land Rover one will only take 20kg per bike but it does mention on their web shop that you need to have a heat shield fitted on the car first.

Do I need to get a heat shield fitted and if so, where does it go?

Will my tyres get damaged by the exhaust heat if I don’t have one?

My 322 didn't have a heat shield when I used the LR accessory carrier and never any problem. Might this apply to the 405 type where the bicycles stand on a platform at exhaust level, rather than the 322 version where they hang from the frame i.e. higher up and no part of the rack is in front of the exhausts (and also later 405s have exhaust finishers venting out the back, rather than downwards behind the bumper?) I'm assuming you have 322 and 322 type carrier as in 322 section, your profile does not say. Only Range Rovers since 1988

I've never heard of anyone fitting one before, but there is a heat shield listed for the L405

The rack itself looks very much like a Thule one and Thule seem to rate their racks at 30kg per bike......

Unusually though, the LR rack doesn't seem to have a huge mark up on it......
