Smallest wheel size possible on a MY12 L322?

Hi all,

I currently drive a MY10 RRS 3.0 TDV6 but a FFRR MY12 4.4 TDV8 is in my sights.

I prefer to run smaller wheel sizes for the sake of comfort and to minimise rim damage.

I have been perusing the FFRR MY12 Owners Manual on Topix and it states that a 8.0J x 19 wheel can be run.

My experience of LR manuals leads me to double check with those with first hand knowledge if indeed this is the case?

So, can a 19" wheel be run on this model and year Range Rover?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kevin

yes it can but be aware that the larger brakes on 2012 model means only a certain size 19" will fit, not all 19"s.

This is because the rims will rub on the brake calliper if not the right offset. This is the style that I know fits. there may be others?

You need Style 15 19” wheels for 2010/12 L322 to clear the brake calipers.

That's great, thank you both.
I replaced the 20" wheels on my RRS with 'snowflake' style 19" wheels.
I will hunt down a set of these rims.
Cheers!

D4 19" rims fit - I had my outgoing D4's set on mine for several weeks until I acquired 275/55R20 tyres. My preference is for 255/60R19 but no AT tyres suitable for my use exist. For a short while Pirelli looked to be planning to release the AT+ in this size but it hasn't surfaced so I have AT+ in 275/55R20. The AT+ with LI 113 the same as their All Season would be great.

OK, thanks Graeme.
So perhaps the 19" wheels from my RRS will fit by the sound of it? Although I have 255 / 50 / 19 tyres on them. They might not be right?

As stated, some 19s are OK and indeed I suspect most are but it will be a bit trial and error to find out. I run original standard 19" wheels from a 2002 on my 2012 5.0 SC when using winter tyres which are 255 55 19. I've just kept the old wheels for the few weeks of winter each year when they're needed and have used them on the '02 4.4; '07 4.2 SC; and '12 5.0 SC. They only just fit over the calipers ... but they do fit - with the smaller size wheel bolts. However I needed new tyres this year and it did cause a problem. They were properly balanced with the normal stick on weights applied to the inside surface. When I fitted the wheels to the car and backed it out of the barn, the balance weights were stripped off one of the front wheels by the calipers as there wasn't enough clearance for them. I had them re-balanced with knock on weights, which is pretty ugly, but it works and the wheels aren't lookers anyway, just there to do a job in the worse muck...

good morning,
Did anyone owning a 2010/2010 SC fitted 19" noticed an improvement in comfort ride?
thanks

Not sure what you are driving know but considering how comfortable (even to my surprise as I was worried about them) my 22' Hawke wheels and Censored chinese tyres are, I think that if whatever you have now doesn't provide the comfort that the issue could be elsewhere. I mean don't forget to check worn suspension and parts, Censored tyres, mounts etc. There is no reason why it can't be comfortable on larger wheels, so putting on smaller ones for that reason may just mask another issue.

Yes agreed. Reminds me of the days of my AMG GL class, for the first two years of ownership there was literally only one make/model of tyre on the market. It was a right pain.

Only for that reason, I'd do the same if I didn't already have the wheels.

As said above, the 19” in the pics are the proper ones. Many of the other LR wheels catch and rub the calipers. The difference in ride compared to the 20” is marginal.

On my 322 I ran 255/55/19 on winters and 255/50/20 on summers. In the end I just put 255/50/20 scorpion verde all seasons on. Ride was fine not a whole heap different from the 19”.

The 19” do give you more choice of AT tyres though, but that depends on where you plan to go, and you can put a 275/45/20 grabber AT on the 20” Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

D4 rims with single layer stick-on weights were fine on mine but probably not enough clearance for a 2nd layer.

Thank you all very much. I must have some problem with the suspension because when driving at low speed I feel all the irregularities of the road. The tyres are already very worn and the rubber has hardened so that is part of the problem.

The idea I had was to go down to a 19 inch rim and be able to put a higher profile tyre.
