A friend had a 110 as a daily and could only put up with it for a few weeks. Noisy, uncomfortable and with a turning circle of oil tanker proportions. That said, I also know someone with a 90 fettled by Twisted Performance which he has no intention of even changing and he commutes about 30 miles in that daily - or he used to.....

I would say excellent, as long as you dont need to drive it, they are like driving in a bath backwards whilst being dragged across a craggy path, but a whole lot more noise and discomfort. They are quite a lot of fun though as well.

For many years my works van was a swb Land Rover . When I bought my first Range Rover , I thought it was “magic” and could not wait to get out in it after work to enjoy the feel.

I went from a 110 to a L322, as much as i liked the 110 I would never go back.

In addition to the comments made by others, which I think are spot on, the Defender is not great re safety. No airbags, lots of hard surfaces, no crumple zones and, depending on your build, there is a big protruding bolt that holds the top of the driver seatbelt in the door frame just where your temple would hit in the event of a side impact, same on the passenger side. I think it's not a good performer in elk test situations either. Interior trim is not nice and door seals are prone to peeling off.

My next door neighbour bought a 90 for her daily trek to do her horses. She's just re-bought the disco 4 she sold. This after she got tired of the 90's freezing, damp interior, bad handling and poor ride, especially after she slid off a minor (paved) road into a ditch one morning.

Oh that one reminds me, despite all that’s said about being best 4x4 by a little bit or something like that?
