L322 Paddleshift - Steering Wheel Gear Paddle Retro Fit

We have developed a modification kit that allows Paddleshift/Command-shift to be fitted to all early L322 Range Rovers (2002-2010) which maintains all steering wheel functionality and operates in the same way as the later cars.

There are 2 main operating modes:
1. When driving in normal auto mode, pull either paddle and the gear instantly shifts into a higher or lower gear – ideal for overtaking. After 5 or 10 seconds (selectable) the car will automatically revert to auto mode.
2. In manual model, the car will change gear based on the paddles being pulled – allowing you to select which gear you feel is right for the conditions.

The gearbox electronics protect the car from the wrong gear being selected in the same way it does when in Steptronic mode, so when pulling up to a halt in 3rd gear the car will automatically change into 1st.

All functionality of the steering wheel buttons remains, including the heated steering wheel where fitted.

The kit is being professionally manufactured in the UK and it is available either with or without the Land Rover paddles that fit to the rear of all L322 steering wheels. The paddles can be bought separately from Land Rover (part numbers LR023033 and LR023034).

The kit is plug and play, though some expertise is required – for example to remove the steering wheel, remove the centre trim and find a 12v switched power source depending on model, and takes about 1.5 hours to fit. Full instructions are provided (see pictures below) and PowerfulUK have done a Youtube video showing how to install it (www.youtube.com/watch?v=zo6KR44zVBk).

Thank you to those who have left some independent feedback on the mod kit:
I am quite amazed at how much they improve the drive. I always found that with the L322, if you wanted to overtake or induce kickdown, you really had to stab the pedal hard, and it wasn't quick enough to do so. Now I just flick the paddle and its ready-the change is quick too, quicker than I thought. Then you just use them as required, and when finished, it automatically selects D again, after about 10 seconds. It transforms the car.

I love it! It really does act like a 2009> 4.4 TDV8 paddleshift... it’s very quick/responsive and the added bonus on NOT losing functionality of your steering wheel controls is genius! There really is NO hesitation waiting for it to change up or down even if you’ve been driving in auto mode for some time! A very worthwhile mod imho 👍

I’ve now fitted new paddles and the kit and agree entirely it works brilliantly, up and down in normal drive mode is instant, move lever into sport mode and again instant change with paddles and no moving hands off steering wheel to do it, love it.

I bought one of these kits complete with paddles a couple of weeks ago and fitted it yesterday. It is truly brilliant. It took me about an hour and a half to fit and I took it for a test drive down to Tesco so my wife could do a quick shopping expedition. I couldn't be happier with how it works. I have no experience of flappy paddles before this but always fancied the idea of them on my FF but it has made it much nicer to drive in town and on windy roads. I love it.

This is a great bit of kit and it changes the way you can drive the Range Rover (4.4L Petrol VCool). So my advice is simple: Buy them, you won't be disappointed Thumbs Up"

Price for the kit is £256 including paddles, or £170 for just the electronic ECU kit (excluding paddles). All prices include postage.

If you are interested, please respond with PM (or email to L322paddleshift@gmail.com) and we will provide a link for payment via Credit Card or bank transfer, or they are available on eBay. Please remember to include your address for delivery.

Thank you also to Martin for allowing this to go on the Group Buy section.

I'm very interested but can't read the instructions well enough to decide if fitting myself is beyond my meagre technical skills.
pop me a pdf by pm or post up a decent readable copy and you may have another sale.

cheers, Charlie
