My brother in law paid for an additional VIN to be added to my iidtool, so he could edit the CCF, which works perfectly. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

To update this thread and give a definitive answer, Pat from GAP has told me that the tool can be used to view, read and clear any fault codes without activating it and locking it to one vehicle. To gain the further programming options, that is when you have to look the tool to a vehicle.

In short, you can use a GAP IID tool to read and clear faults but you cannot program anything until it has been activated/ locked to a vehicle.
