United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 V8 Orkney Grey
2004 Rear Brake Calipers

Hi all

I've had a sticking nearside rear caliper for a couple of weeks, and got a nice package of bits from Advanced Factors to replace both sides this weekend.

This is the first time I've attempted a job like this, and after a bit of a slow start managed to get the old nearside caliper off and went to fit the new one, only to find an enormous size difference between new and old:

Apart from the width, the sliding pin holes are about 10mm to far apart for the carrier. Not a lot I can do on a Sunday, but I've double checked that I ordered and got delivered the correct ones for a BMW 4.4 V8.

I need to now order some the correct size, but struggling to find anything between Britpart and Genuine, ie OEM fit. Happy to go Genuine if thats what it takes, but does anyone know of any mid-range replacement?

Cheers David

Try a local motor factor, they are generally a generic calliper so will probably be on the shelf. don’t be scared off a refurb unit. They are normally as good as new. I’ve had a few from factors and they look like new. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Pete - Looks like you may be right! It's definately stamped with AF's rear brake code, so suspect there's been a screw up somewhere along the line. Might take the opportunity to do the front ones as well then....

NMJ - Thanks for the suggestion, I'll see what AF say tomorrow. David

They'll be wanting them sorted as the front ones will be much more money than the rears you paid for... Thumbs Up

All sorted, mix up on the website. Big thanks to Paul at AF for getting the right ones out overnight.

No wonder the old ones were sticking though, virtually zero return travel on the piston and coated in rust on the inside. Shocked

Craig - Yep, others now returned, but I'll be adding inspection of the fronts to the list of jobs to do. Rolling Eyes David
