Iveco's are a real "guvnors motor" - second only to DAF (not the "proper" Dutch Daf's).

Anyone who does not know Iveco stands for "I vibrate, everthing comes off". 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

A lot of you seem to be missing the point.

My gripe is with JLR for deleting a dip stick which makes it so easy to check the condition of the oil...

AND a warning to others to not believe without proof that the oil has been changed.

I always change all fluids on a new purchase and have just returned via Duckworths with a boot full of very expensive oil to change the lot in my fatty.. coolant and brake fluid will be changed as well.

One thing that made me laugh is that the original JLR engine oil filter is marked "Made in China"...!!

As for oil analysis.... don't get me started on that..!!! Pete

Very different to what you get thesedays - back then you could actually hear & feel the engine. Modern DAF's are so quiet about the only thing you hear is the sound of the trim falling off.

About as much road feel as a video game too.

Scania, Merc, Volvo or MAN for me in that order. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

I’d prefer a dipstick too Pete.

And it’s a massive job I believe if the ultrasonic detector thing goes belly up and you need to swap it out....

I've never had 'clean' oil in a diesel, as has alrady been said it tends to go black very quickly. Except, we had a fairly old MAN L2000 chassised horse box with a clunky 5.8 Lt 4 cyl DI turbo diesel and when I changed the oil in that (16 Lt!!) it stayed beautifully clean for ages. Drives:

if im ever picking up a new to me petrol car i will check the dipstick, if its dirty oil hasnt been changed, or if it has they have done some major driving on it.

as for the no dipstick thing, audi also do it and merc i believe as well, a dealer was asked why isnt there a dipstick and they said sir our customers dont need to check there oil thats what we do!!!

to which he got told to sod of an a dipstick was bought for an audi!!!

oil warning lights on any modern item are crap cause they mostly come on when the engine is ruined!

is the 5.0 a jag engine as well? if so enquire with LR about getting a dipstick if not phone a jag dealer

Can’t comment on a petrol Pete, but I don’t think a curtain wire would be easy on my 4.4 tdV8.

Can't say I'm too bothered, just wondered how many fatty owners had been ripped off... I won't be as I do all the work on my cars...

I always change the oil when I get a new car to make sure it has the correct grade and not the cheap stuff....

Anyway, enough on the subject and as for pictures of nasty trucks than run on the devils brew.... Rolling Eyes Pete

Nasty trucks that bring almost everything you buy, wear or eat (including your FFRR) to a point convenient to you.

While we are about it lets eradicate to psychopaths that drive them too. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

So sorry to offend, I didn't appreciate I am required to like something just because it is practical... god forbid anyone else to have a point of view.. Rolling Eyes

I have no animosity towards the trucks or drivers, just the brew the trucks run on...

I do find criticism and hostility from another poster rather hypocritical, especially when their only input on this thread was so Off Topic it was hard to believe...

I shall now let you have the last say... go on, fill your boots...!!! Pete
