Primary accessory drive belt replacement

As I am working on changing my coolant I have found that the Primary accessory drive belt is in poor condition, its lost one rib of the 6 ribs.

I was not planning to do this work for a long while as I have evidence that it was changed in December 2016 at a mileage of 98000, I am now at 111,000 miles.

When it was replaced both the belts and all the pulleys and tensioners along with the water pump were replaced which to me is good practice. However bearing in mind the low miles I am inclined to only change the belts.

Any advice you may have will be gratefully received.
Also it is necessary to use the viscous fan spanners? or are there work arounds?

Many thanks Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006

Just check the pulleys are running true before you remove the old belt, then when you have the old belt off spin the idlers and tensioners to check they are OK and run smoothly with no roughness...

Buy a genuine or well know branded belt, there are some very cheap ones around... Thumbs Up Pete

Yep I will check pulleys and tensioners. I have nearly always used Dayco and Gates belts and have never had a problem, unless someone can say otherwise for our cars!

The best schedule I can find for replacement is for a Sport sc and that suggested 150k miles 10 yrs for the primary belt and 105k miles 7 years for the secondary/fan/supercharger belt. That seems to me to be a very long time so I will check every service and probably replace every 50k. Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006
