Air intake

Hi,

I have just noticed on my new (to me) SDV8 that in the air intake channels in the bonnet there is a black plastic bag in each side that are filled with a fibrous material (or that is what it feels like without ripping them open). Is this some type of filter or something else? Should I take them out?

I have the same motor but not sure about any black bags ? can you take a pic Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where,s the f**king ceiling!!

No Stan, these bags are in the bonnet itself where the air intakes shown in your diagram fit in the aperture in the bonnet. They are mentioned on another website but without an explanation? Please see the pictures I have posted. 2019 Autobiography SDV8 Byron blue/black - current

according to the WM [link in wiki] the air comes in via the 'grill' intakes and goes to the air cleaners....i think the bags stop air going the other way ...

Just checked, they are there on mine aswell. Will leave them as probably some sort of sound insulation?

Apparently they are placed there to prevent water from being sucked in from the cowling side. I have it too.

A very high tech fix, for water coming from cowl side.
They must of got the help of the European space agency for that fix!
