Kickdown query

Evening all

I've had a search around but can't seem to find an answer to this one

Took a 4.4 on a test drive earlier, in 'D' if doing 50mph or so and flooring it no downshift, hence not really gathering speed, i'm assuming this isn't normal?

Thanks

What year/engine?

You have to push the pedal past the "stop" if you want kick down. Although mine will change down 1 gear before I get there and will kick down to the lowest possible gear if I go all the way.

It seemed quite happy to shift down in sport mode, but i didn't mash my foot down when in D i just pushed, didn't realise there was a point i had to get to for kickdown to happen but i did have my foot all the way down, confusing i'm sorry

Useful to know though, thanks Thumbs Up

The V8 really is a different car to the diesel, having been and driven both i completely understand. Also, i reset the mpg thing before thrashing it about on the test drive for 10 miles and came back at 18mpg, in my normal style of driving should return 20mpg i imagine

Just need to find a good one in budget now

Hi mate, glad you liked the V8 i have one of these, although the trip computer is not acurate at all. I am the most careful driver ever in my 'normal style' and i only average 18mpg over 200 miles per week, which is made up of 90% motorway 10% town and never going above 50-55mph you will only every get above 20mpg if your on a long steady run on a motorway. If you do all around town driving (which i did for around 4 months) you will only get around 15mpg, again driving carefully. These beasts love the taste of petrol but i would not change mine for any other car... EVER!!

Matt
