4.2 SC lean codes

technically this is the Sport tbh and not the L322 but the engines are the same. I basically get lean codes no matter what the hell I do. Things ive already tried:

1. pcv replaced
2. maf replaced
3. both top ends rebuilt with hardened valve seats(its an lpg car, but lpg hasn't been ran for a while to allow trims to adjust properly)
4. pcm flashed to the latest update
5. air filter changed for a mann cross
6. dumped a lot of redex into fuel tank and cycled
7. lots of smoke tests done with no luck
8. reset the ecu learnings
9. fuel pump changed

Does this point that theres a leak down stream somewhere? the car runs fine but the damn check engine light is killing my fuel economy and in this day and age itll fail an MOT.

I get this isnt the full fat rr but nobodies had any ideas anywhere else I've asked

Cheers

As I told you before I had the same issues and mainly did all you did - what I didn’t update over there was I did the pre cat o2 sensors and they seemed to be the silver bullet for me! I have one new one for sale if interested i think there is someone else in here with another.

It’s now actually running marginally rich now 3ish but I believe this is accept able Current stable:

haha am literally out of ideas now and this lock down has me determined to fix the sucker. the problem is as well without proper fuel trims the LPG will then refuse to calibrate properly so its been one of those. although I do wish I'd bought the full fat sucker haha.

i'll do a bit of search about the sensors and see what I get left with. hopefully thats all it needs, if anything I think mines the post cat because the car runs fine, so does that mean I can just cut the cat out Razz

mine ran fine too - post cat don't adjust anything I don't believe they jus check cats are working.

Have you check your little blow off hose hasn't come off to the fuel pressure sensor?

I smoke tested mine which shows me that and a few leaky gaskets which improved mine, I then did the Mac and o2 and it all started to come together. Current stable:

refresh my memory was it lean on idle both banks and when you get driving decent revs the lean came down to nearly normal? if so that is exactly what I had Current stable:

I haven't read the other post but pre cat lambda sensors tell the ECU if the mixture is week or rich, they are very well known for failing and are cheap to change.

Should be the first thing to change when you have mixture issues... Thumbs Up

P.S. Post cat lambdas measure the efficiency of the cats and will report a ineffective cat when the fault is with the sensor !! Pete

The only time LPG will damage a lambda sensor is when it is set up incorrectly, most mechanics who don't know how to set the system up will make it run rich as then it will run smooth, damages lots of other things as well as damaging valve seats, a properly installed and set up system will do neither... Thumbs Up Pete

I take it you are getting the codes from running on petrol and not just LPG..??

When the issue is fixed and you have two new lambdas in there, check the STFT (short term fuel trims) they should ideally be under 10%... Thumbs Up Pete
