does anyone know what / if the 405 has as standard regarding tow bars? ie if it doesn't have the hook does it have the other bits.....? an l322 that i had didn't and it involved quite a bit off work to fit one which i dont want to do in future. but if relatively straight forward then i would consider etc

AFAIK there is wiring but no armature or hook etc. I had the farmer's hitch type retrofitted, which is cheaper, simpler and stronger than the deployable one, and it's quick and easy to take the hook bit on and off. I prefer it to the deployable as no mechanism to seize up, but I think there will be fewer cars that have them, so harder to find one. Only Range Rovers since 1988

There are others who've retro fitted a detachable bar - I think NMJ & Redmerle have both done it.

600-1000 is the ball park range IIRC

It was £990 incl VAT in spring 2018, at main dealer as part of the overall purchase deal, looking at the accessory price list of the time there is not much difference to list price then. Only Range Rovers since 1988

There is also a Westfalia detachable option, though not official LR, it’s a very similar system to the one on the 322. Think mine was about £600 fitted with 13pin electrics. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
