I have got a decision to make. Do I sell my 5.0 supercharged or keep it and spend money on it. I bought it to replace my Dodge Ram and keep the miles off my Discovery. I love driving the car but the sound track is a little disappointing. The Dodge sounds superb with the twin magnaflow system and K&N intake. The quality of the drive is a bit agricultural and it attracts too much attention. The Fatty is lovely to drive and although the engine sounds fine, with 130k on the clock if I keep it I will have to do the timing chains for peace of mind. My local main dealer is Lakeland Landrover, excellent dealership but the cost of them doing the job would be prohibitive. Is there anyone on the forum who would do the job or know an indie who has all the necessary tools. If I did the chains I would also put a Kahn exhaust system on to make the soundtrack match the grunt.

I just need an acceptable price from an adequately equipped indie who will do the job. I have rebuilt a TD5 engine but this is another league. If I can get a good price from someone with a good reputation I will get it done. I know the main dealer price will make the decision to sell it now. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem!! |

You bought 5.0 to keep the miles of a Discovery |

The discovery is the long term keeper for the move to France. I can justify the fuel for the Fatty whilst I am still working in the UK. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem!! |

Give Cumbria Landrover in Penrith a call, Darren knows Landrovers like the back of his hand and has done my old TD6 and my current 4.4 TDV8. I even get him to do my Mondeo ST220. It's definately a job he could do and his prices are excellent.

The Disco stands me at £30k and the Fatty at £8k, once retired and unable to put fuel against tax the Discovery is far more acceptable daily drive. Bonkers logic? If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem!! |

You could also try Simon Huntington in Wigton 016973 42670 as a comparison for prices. He is a good independent, been going years and has a good reputation |
