AFS Lights or not?

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm still looking and learning before hopefully taking the plunge in August and buying a late model L322 Vogue SE/Westminster or Ab.

I've recently discovered about AFS lights and I was wondering if having them or not is a major advantage/disadvantage.

Part of me likes the idea of having lights that light the road up when you're turning but another part of me worries that it's another thing to go wrong.

Can anyone offer words of wisdom and advice, please?

Thanks in advance,

Dunc.

had them on my 4.2 SC ...for me they were a novelty at first and i didnt find them any better than normal headlights..

the cornering lights ,which i believe come with AFS headlights , i found were a distraction so i took the bulbs out... ... - .- -.

Thanks, Stan.

I assume that the AFS lights are also more expensive to replace?

I find them really distracting & irritating when, on a windy road the vehicle behind you has its "cornering" lights flashing on & off. I can see their usefulness at slow speeds so to me they should only operate at slow speeds. They would not be necessary at all if the headlights were designed by engineers rather than so called sty;lists. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

Based on the replies so far I'm leaning towards ones without AFS.

Thanks, chaps!

Just as a counter, we have them on ours and I think they are fantastic - especially in windy lanes at night.

Can you turn them off to avoid distracting a driver in front ? Lets face it, you don't need so much light when following someone, unless of course your standard headlights are rubbish or you are driving too fast. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

Are the 405 and 322 AFS lights similar or did LR learn from mistakes made with the 322 and improve the 405's?

Just concerned that if I go for AFS lights I may be a) irritating other road users with 1st gen technology and b) setting myself up for an expensive replacement bill if/when they become faulty or damaged.
