United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Supercharged 5.0 SC V8 Stornoway Grey

DrRob - I'd seen that in your profile several times, and likewise wanted to see pics!

I only bought the 107" maybe 2012 as a bit of a toy/project, as my parents had a spare garage and I'd always fancied a bronze green soft top 80" or 86". But I saw this one day locally and thought you see so few 107's, it would be such a shame not to have it.

I bought it fully MOT'd and drivable (and badly painted), but it's having a very slow rolling restoration to correct various incorrect alterations over the years, to hopefully set it back to how it should be. I actually really like the bare Birmabright look as well, so having stripped it back have been resisting painting it for several years now... I also tend to run it around without the hard top on, as it lives safely in a garage, and I find it surprisingly makes a nice convertible!

it didn't move much 2017/2018 while we were building a new house in Poole as it was stuck in a temporary garage surrounded by boxes, but 2019 it had new tyres and did several hundred miles locally, I was really enjoying using it again. I was out in it just before the lockdown was announced, as I tend to use it for local journeys in Poole rather than firing up the 5.0 S/C, but now parked up, and I suppose once I finish a few more boat jobs I'll do some Series 1 jobs too Smile.

That's really nice - don't think mine will ever come out quite like that! I love the Sage Green too, definitely one to keep in the family for a good few more years Smile

As it turned out my wife needed to take some parcels for delivery this afternoon, so I had a reason to travel, and we took the 107" out for a quick trip around a couple of local parcel shops, which was lovely in the sunshine.

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Fuji White

Whilst we can't really go anywhere, I gave the Rangey to my son. It's at his garage in Manchester and he's doing a full service plus the upper and lower hub bushes front and rear. They aren't worn, but for the sake of a few quid in parts, and a few beers as payment,he may as well do them for piece of mind.
I am a bit worried though. It had a full tank when he took it !! Tony

You'll owe him a whole dray load of beer for this job, never mind that the diesel in the tank will most likely "expand" with the weather! Razz L322 3.6 TDV8 Vogue. 07MY

United Kingdom

i just received a nice email from landrover giving me tips for maintaining my FF during the lockdown,

Since 2009, all Land Rover diesel vehicles have been fitted with a Diesel Particulate Filter. This important device captures 99% of soot and particulates from the engine to help significantly reduce emissions. It is essential that to prevent the particulates from building up in the filter, and to avoid any impact to the performance of your vehicle, that this soot is ‘burned off’ through a process called regeneration.

If your Diesel Particular Filter warning light shows as amber on the dashboard, this indicates your filter is filling up and needs to be regenerated. To do this, it’s recommended you drive the vehicle at speeds between 40 and 70mph on roads designated for these speed limits, for 25-35 minutes. A red warning light on the dashboard indicates that your Diesel Particulate Filter is full. In this scenario, we recommend contacting Land Rover Assistance as soon as possible to resolve the issue*.

For more advice on regenerating the Diesel Particulate Filter in your Land Rover, please refer to your vehicle handbook.

AdBlue BEING TOPPED UP

TOP UP YOUR DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID

To ensure the optimum performance of your Land Rover, it is important to keep your Diesel Exhaust Fluid – also known as AdBlue – topped up. The fluid is essential for neutralising harmful gases generated in the engine and helps to reduce the emissions from the exhaust by up to 90%.

If your Diesel Exhaust Fluid drops to zero, then you will not be able to restart your vehicle. Topping up your Diesel Exhaust Fluid is a simple process, and the fluid is available to purchase at most local garages. To determine the grade of fluid your vehicle requires, please refer to your vehicle handbook.

Warning lights on the dashboard and messages to your InControl message centre will remind you when your levels are running low and instructions on how to fill the tank are included in your vehicle handbook.

To ensure your Land Rover operates efficiently when returning to more usual travel patterns, there are a few simple steps you can follow.

MAINTAIN YOUR BATTERY

To build up sufficient charge in the battery, it is recommended that you turn on your vehicle once every seven days. In the first instance, start your car for a 30-minute period, with the heat in the cabin set to 22 degrees. Repeat this process for 15 minutes, once every seven days in the weeks thereafter, to ensure the battery is maintained.

CHECK YOUR TYRES

To avoid flat spots developing and ensure your tyres remain sufficiently inflated, check the tyre pressure against those listed in your vehicle manual. In addition, we advise adjusting the parking position of your Land Rover by a ¼ of a wheel turn once every 14 days, to change the point of pressure. Repeat as required.

MAINTAIN YOUR BRAKES

After extended periods of no use, we’d recommend gently applying the brakes when first driving your vehicle again, at a low speed. This will help to remove any surface corrosion on the brake discs.

WHAT IF I NEED TO SPEAK TO MY RETAILER?

Our UK Retailers are currently closed to protect the health and safety of the public and our colleagues. However, to provide national coverage for service and repairs, a number of our Service Centres remain open, with priority being given to essential service vehicles and vehicles of key workers. If your service light turns on, please note you can continue using your vehicle for two months or up to 2,000 miles, before a service is strongly advised.

In the case of a breakdown, our roadside assistance teams are still operating, but are adopting social distancing measures. For any urgent service and repair queries, please contact Land Rover Assistance on 0800 521 786, or to find out the latest operational status for each of our Retailers, please visit the Land Rover website.

So, is a blast down the bypass and back to keep the dpf clear an essential journey? I think we should be told!
