Late reply, but I thought I'd provide a link to the correct fuel filter for the 4.2 SC (at least for my 2009). It is slightly different than the one for the HSE, which has a silver metal cylinder that looks to be about the size of a thumb on the bottom.

Did you ever swap yours out? If so, what milage was your FF when you did it? Did you have any symptoms before you changed it and did changing it help? 2009 L322 SC

I did indeed I just asked the dealer in the end.

It just sits on the top of the tank yes? Surely the se would be the same?

I ordered the one from the link I posted above, but it hasn't arrived yet. I was talking to my neighbor who is a 20+ year Toyota mechanic and he said that toyota doesn't even change their fuel filters out as a preventative maintenance item anymore because they were having too many instances where the mechanic would accidentally damage the metal fuel line during the filter change and turn a 1 hour $300 task into a 6 hour $1300 task, on the Dealerships' dime because they damaged the line. Now I'm really nervous about doing it if everything seems to be working fine. I've seen some posts about people changing out the filter on the 4.4 HSE, but the 4.2 SC is a whole different setup. I'm considering just sending it back.

Has anyone changed out the fuel filter on their 4.2 SC preemptively, and did it make any difference? 2009 L322 SC

Mine was preemptive I guess because the actual fault was a failed cut and at 100k it made no difference at all. Current stable:
