Sad indeed R.IP. Stirling.
My dad used to regularly take me and my older brother to Oulton Park , particularly for Gold Cup meetings, and I remember him clearly getting cheered on to victory in a sports car race when he was driving a Big Austin Healey...happy days.
Mike.

I just thought to add...I equally remember seeing his sister Pat driving a Works Healey 3000 round the same circuit, but as a stage in the RAC rally.... she was an equal for any man in her day. Thumbs Up G reg 2.5VM Vogue Portofino red 1991- 1999

I’ve met him a few times, a gent from a different era - he denied picking out the attractive women from the spectator stands and having them sent to his hotel room whilst racing. He only picked them out whilst practicing & qualifying, not whilst racing Laughing - different times

RIP

I was lucky enough to share a table with him and his wife a few years ago at a charity dinner at Prescott Hill Climb... We enjoyed ribbing him infront of his wife, asking him for comparisons with him and James Hunt! Whistle

One MASSIVE shock to me was his wife encyclopaedic knowledge of every detail of Stirlings racing career... Bow down Bow down Bow down Thumbs Up

I for one will sadly miss him... RIP
