Online personal plate removal ?

Has anyone done this ?

I tried this morning - went all the way through the process, pressed the 'pay now' button, then the next page said ' Access to www.personalisedvehicleregistration.service.gov.uk was denied'

The payment has gone out of my account, but I've received no confirmation email.

Is paperwork normally emailed straight away, or does it come in the post ?

Thank you

It is usually emailed fairly quickly. You will get an email confirming the original plate, it should have directed you to a confirmation screen where you can download the paperwork to get the replacement plates made up, but that is on the email also.

Check your junk folder.....

You will then get the new V5 in the post.

If you haven’t received anything shortly I would
Contact the DVLA, and request confirmation. It normally
Automatically updates the system for MOT and tax, so if you look on the checker it may show your new reg as taxed and tested. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thanks for that..

I've tried ringing DVLA, but recorded message saying they're no longer taking calls. Also done MOT check, and still comes up on old number Crying or Very sad

OK, payment has now been returned to my account..

Looks like my problem is there's been a gap in my road tax and it's not been continuous for the last 5 years ( I forgot once, and missed a month Shocked )

Can I really not remove a plate because of this one mistake ?

These days vehicles must always either be taxed or SORN'd, there seems to be no middle ground so I guess the DVLA "computer says no"

I don't know whether you can backdate a SORN to cover the missing month.

EDIT: Just googled and apparently you can't backdate a SORN. It also suggests that there is an automatic fine if your vehicle is untaxed and not SORN'd

Now it's flagged with the DVLA you might be receiving something unwanted in the post Big Cry Big Cry 2021 D350 Fifty Edition
