SDV8 Coolant Loss and Suspected Oil Leak

Hi Guys,

I have recently purchased a 2014 SDV8 and seem to be having a few issues with the oil/coolant

1) After taking the car for a longish run when I first got it a few weeks ago, there was a strong aroma of oil/coolant around front of vehicle after stopping

2) After jumping the car to move it yesterday, I got a low coolant warning, and after checking the reservoir, there is no coolant whatsoever in there and the reservoir itself looks very clean, which seems odd. Oil level is fine.

3) Looked underneath and there is a constant oily drip from the undertray behind engine

I read some other threads which referred to the oil cooler/oil cooler gasket being the problem but these all seemed to be L322s, is there anything I can check to try to trace the issue?

Any advice much appreciated. 2004 4.4 Autobiography - gone

I think its the same issue with the oil cooler on these as in the L322 but someone will be along soon to confirm or deny....
Some just change the gaskets, some replace the whole cooler and gaskets. I plumbed for the latter to be extra sure Thumbs Up Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Re: SDV8 Coolant Loss and Suspected Oil Leak

Hi,

I've got a similar issue on my 4.4 with the coolant, difference is mine is a 19MY and I've only had it 3 months.

Assistance have been out and said it appears to be coming from the back of the engine, but as the dealerships are closed there's nothing more that can be done.

Does anyone know if there's a TSB?

Cheers

Farnell, the dealer in my area, have just sent me an email with contact details for any essential workers to use.
All their outlets are closed, but they are providing assistance to help keep essential users on the road, including emergency repairs.

If you fall in to this category, it may be worth trying to contact a local dealer.

Thanks Mike.

It would make sense that critical workers and businesses can get access to main dealer repairs, especially given that the likes of the Highways Agency run a sizeable fleet of D5's and there always seems to be a few in Beadles. I'll give them a try tomorrow.
