OOps not got a rotary polisher!

buy the Megs one with a set of pads

with these 'amateur' machines you cannot 'burn' the paint if you linger too long in an area

you will also be able to use it to remove swirls/holograms/minor scratches from all your cars

will save you a fortune

Any ideas where best to buy Nick?

theres one on ebay now with pads for £80 BIN

even buying brand new with pads and a basic range of 'polishing/cutting' compounds you are talking less than £200

i'd also not use a cocktail stick for applying paint

go to a PROPER art shop and look at their really fine brushes - and i mean fine!!

if you've not got one near you i can buy you a selection from the shop i use

find that most 'detailing' shops are a bit overpriced

i know what they charge for Dodo supernatural and what i pay through a 'motor factors' and they also sell the 5l trade bottles of megs pro range Laughing

i'm very cynical about the whole detailing world - hence why i got banned from their site (actually resigned if we want to split hairs?)

the problem is you have a lot of testosterone charged young lads who will pay anything for what they perceive as the 'best'

i found a 'brush' (that was crap) and retailing at approx £20 was available from 'other sources' for less than £5!

reality goes out of the window - a few years ago one even wanted to sue the council for the gritter lorry getting grit on his car in the bad winter Laughing

Yesterday as I was driving along a truck at the front of the line of cars dropped a load of mud off the back and onto the road.
With the damp roads the car in front of me threw up a load of muddy spray and there was grit in the mud. The wipers came on automatically and now I have a long shallow scratch right across the passenger side of the screen in an arc........... is there anything I can use to polish it out as although very shallow it is very annoying.

Tim you can get a windscreen glass scratch cutting kit on line if you do a search have used one and it got a light arch scratch out of of my Porka screen comes with 2 pads and 2 compounds will try to find you a link if you cannot find one. Far to many gone...

Gaz - try some Lanka stuff. I've never used it but I've heard people rave about it.

same principle as Doctor Colorchip and Chipex

i've used Doctor Colorchip with superb results

BUT

someone pointed me to Chipex who are a UK company

i've received a kit from Chipex to 'test and review' for the site - waiting for the weather to improve before i do the testing

will report back with photo's etc when done

what surprises me with the Lanka kit is that it does not include the touch up paint - ALL the others do?

so how can you be sure the Lanka kit is compatible with your touch up paint?

one to avoid imo
