Mine's older, but I just ask Siri for whatever I want... |

Through the car or just by shouting “hey siri” in the direction of your phone? There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Yours is the same experience as mine, ie can only control through the on screen menu a device connected to the iPod jack. 2016 SDV8 AB |

I had exactly the same issue as you, I got round it by connecting my old IPOD via the wire in the centre console and leaving it permanently hidden in there for my music, I can now search and do all the things I want via the dash screen for music, as for my phone I just blue tooth it for calls only, works a treat |

Agree about use of an old iPod. However there’s only a limited range of iPods that will connect properly and be capable of touchscreen control: - the earliest iPod Classics won’t play and anything iPod touch or newer won’t work either. A good reminder to not throw out otherwise old gadgets... 2016 SDV8 AB |

I just shout at the phone connected via Bluetooth - I’ve got an early L405 though so no fancy connectivity options for me |
