Towbar bolt/coupling

Hey All

I am missing the it that goes through the square fitting on the towbar that then goes through the bit pictures below to secure it. Does anyone know if i can just use m12 or whatever size bolt fits or is there a specific part? Looks like it takes the pull pull loading so needs to be strong.

Thanks

I'm sure there's a proper bolt & may be available as a separate item

Ideally you want a bolt with a pin through to prevent the nut ever shaking off, but TBH I would have thought any decent bolt would be fine.

I used to have a drop hitch with a pin if that provides any comfort

and another with a bolt and pin setup -

That looks like a Westphalia towbar and as such you should be able to get the correct bolt from a supplier.

As a start try PF Jones via their website/phone.

It may pay to use the correct bolt knowing how fickle insurance companies can be in the (unlikely) event of a claim. And it should keep you within the regs for CE use and construction of bars. Rolling Eyes Cheers

Even if they don't have the exact one, there is some advice on their site -

Thanks everyone for the help.

I spoke to a really helpful guy at PF jones who spoke to there team at Westfalia and they confirmed its a start M16 100mm long bolt with a hole for a split pin nothing special about it.

The also advised that if you can not source a split pin one then using a nylock nut is also ok.
