£4k Deposit Contribution Disappeared..........

Was browsing the LR used site yesterday (as you do Whistle Whistle ) and FFRR's mostly had an offer on of £4k deposit contribution, the terms of which said available until 31 March 2020.

Today the offer is nowhere to be seen...... Shocked Shocked

Bit frustrating that, as it was part of my armoury to persuade SWMBO what a bargain L405's are at the moment Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes 2021 D350 Fifty Edition

Yes frustrating.......was very tempted with a 17 plate AB but the 4K would have made the difference.

Mind you, the way values are dropping if I wait another few months it'll be 4K cheaper Laughing Laughing 2021 D350 Fifty Edition

Yes, a ridiculous rate in the current climate but sign up to get the deposit contribution then re-finance or pay it off asap. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition

I hear what you’re saying, although there are a lot of otherwise credit worthy Land Rover customers that might struggle to beat even 10.9% on a large unsecured loan.

But isn't it secured on the car? Should be lower risk. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

If I’ve ever paid of a car loan, I’ve done it with an unsecured loan. It’s difficult to get a secured loan on a car that currently belongs to LR Financial Services (assuming that I’ve understood you correctly Thumbs Up

Just got a used AB from LR finance at 6.9%, the garage said they didn’t join the £4K deposit offer due to the finance being too expensive and it worked out cheaper overall without the deposit contribution 2005 L322 Vogue Gold gone

For me the £4k was a big incentive (aside from the fact I want an L405) as it equated to around 8% off the ticket price.

My plan (assuming the go-ahead from SWMBO - a big ask but making headway !!) was to take out the finance to grab the £4k and then "re-finance it" at 1.79% via a remortgage which has come through this month with a bit of spare cash kicking around.

I was not aware you could get a loan secured on a car. I assumed the banks would refuse as it's a rapidly depreciating asset Big Cry Big Cry 2021 D350 Fifty Edition

I always go for LR finance just in case the car is a lemon - they were very good when I got one before and it needed lots of work to put it right. They own the car until the last payment so they are responsible for it to be right.

I could refinance it later at a lower apr. The loan on my mini through AA loans was only 3%. 2005 L322 Vogue Gold gone

I financed through the independent dealer I brought the car from. Negotiated 3.9% which I thought was quite good. My private pension, which I have access to if required has averaged 7% per annum growth in the last 3 years. If those figures were closer I might reconsider.

I know you’ll always pay more for a car on finance unless it’s interest free but I think I’d always struggle to use my own money on something that depreciates like a FF.

Selling finance is a big earner for the likes of LR these days, but I do wonder how they keep a straight face when they offer rates in excess of 10% in these days of low interest rates Neutral

Little surprise it's gone really - You have to wonder how many people took the deposit contribution & then re-financed.

It would make far more sense for them to shave a little off the interest charge for the duration of the finance than offer an up front lump.
