Key FOB Battery

For my 2002 L322, both keys are giving the "Low Key Battery" warning on the info LCD.

The owners manual (well the NAS version I found as a PDF online for the 2003 model) says this is an easy DIY job, take out a couple of screws, remove coin cell and replace with Panasonic 2016.

But I'm also reading about all kinds of voodoo involving resyncing keys and things generally going pear-shaped...

What is the correct info ie can I simply remove the old battery from the fob and replace or is there some real risk of something unpleasant occurring? "Gloria" 2002 L322 Voguish V8 LPG - carcass

1. Don't do both keys at the same time (just to be on the safe side)
2. Don't change the key battery when the car is locked
3. Ensure you can manually unlock the car with the key (driver's door)
4. Just changing the key battery should not affect the remote syncing
5. Just changing the key battery should not affect the immobiliser, even if you lose remote sync you should still be able to unlock the car (manually - the alarm will sound until key in ignition and turned) and start it
6. If it does the remote-syncing is not difficult, but it can take several goes to get it right
