Front tyre wear

Our car is currently fitted with the Continental M&S tyre fitted all round from new. I noticed that the outer shoulder on the near side front was wearing more than the o/s one. The steering wheel was out of alignment too leaning towards the right. Cutting a long story short, I’ve had the alignment adjusted, but now the o/s tyre is wearing on the outer shoulder. The steering wheel is slightly now to the left as you look at it. My question is, will this be resolved when a new set of front tyres are fitted to allow the tracking adjustment to be fully appreciated, or, as I’ve had Continental’s before, they’re just not a very good tyre. On our last vehicle they wore in a saw tooth manner and our son had the same issue on his car.

If the wear has gone from one side to the other, I would say they have over adjusted it. The offside needs the front of the tyre to be moved outwards. To centre the steering wheel you need to adjust both track rods in the same direction little by little until when driving it is centred.

Ok thanks for the reply. I’ll get it booked back in again for a four wheel alignment.

L405 or L322 ?

Contis on an L322 seemed to suffer badly from outside edge scrub

They are great on the L405, but, for whatever reason, didn’t seem a good pairing with the L322

on the L322 Pirelli Scorpions seem to get the best reviews as an all rounder. I used to run Michelin diamaris in the summer and Vredesteins in the winter and was happy with that combo.

Try and make sure they use a Hunter system. I’m hearing good thing about Kwik fit which most of them have a Hunter tracking machine, quite reasonable too.
