When you press the button on the fob or the one under the dash is the lower tailgate supposed to open with the upper?

on mine and when locked ,you press the tailgate button on the fob and both power and upper open...you have to use the fob to close unless you 'unlock' whilst the back is open.

.....and, it seems like whether locked or unlocked the only way to open both upper and lower tailgate is to use the fob... ... - .- -.

The more I read the more I think it should be opening. I'm not convinced anything is faulty. It seams more likely that something isn't enabled.

I have wondered about this also! My FOB only open the top tailgate, i have to use the button on the lower tailgate itself to open that yet BOTH will close with one touch of the button on the keyfob

MY19 - both open only with the fob or by wiggling the foot under the bumper. If the dash switch or the tailgate button are pressed - only the upper part. |

Hmmmmm I wonder if there is a firmware upgrade available, can only be software related not hardware surely ! Bit like in the old days of video games where you could download a 'trial' version of the game, the WHOLE game was actually on there but the software would only allow you to play for so long..... trial version..... unless you knew where to look and how to unlock it all CURRENT :

The issue is canbus protocol! 2013-2014.5 have very different canbus to 2015-2017 for example! So, itโs only possible if the boot opening can messages are interpretable?

Interesting!!! I like silly little issues like this, will have to look into it as at the end of the day the fob sends a signal to the car to open the boot, canbus thinks,,,,, I know ! I am a mere 2013 model, I will send a signal to open just the upper boot, that will do ! I see no reason why the system can not be told to send the open boot signal to both the upper and lower tailgate to they BOTH open ?!? (may need to tap into the lower tailgate button with a few wires and a bit of solder to a relay picking up a live feed trigger from the upper boot module..... but could work !
