I think that with everybody we have a value in our head of what our car is realistically worth in today’s market with the current negativity towards larger diesel engined vehicles
My 11 plate vogue with 136k on the clock was recently valued at 6k as a px against a newer vehicle at my local Landrover stealers
Crazy but true
I said to the salesman find me another one at 6k anywhere and all he said was that’s what the computer says
Bonkers!
With that in mind I realistically value mine at around 8.5k£ to 9k£
It’s not what I want to hear but that’s today’s market value 😪

I paid £40k for my L405 and that was a good deal 15 months ago with all its extras, Ive got every service stamp and its mint yet its lost over £10k, probably nearer 15k, I'm gutted, never again, still is my last LR, the world really is frowning on these cars now!!!

I have had a couple of additional trade in prices, one happy to match the £17k and another this morning at £16200, with uplift subject to condition. I have got over the initial shock and now just need to find a replacement for the RS6 I thought I was buying.

The trade in values quoted seem very generous in my view bearing in mind that on resale the dealer needs too cover his overheads, preparation costs and leave a profit margin as well as provide a minimum 6 months warranty on the vehicle.

Purchasing most vehicles will incur the buyer in depreciation and running costs and the more expensive the vehicle new the higher these are going to be.

The only vehicle I have run over the years that I recouped my purchase price on was a 911 but that was after spending many £’ooo’s on service and tyres.

It will be interesting how your costs work out on a C63 over time compared with running a RR. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

Just read that a certain J.Clarkson stated that German Scientist have found that diesels produce very little NOX in normal driving conditions and some none at all, a Vauxhall 1.6 for example . Perhaps the tax on diesel could be reduced sometime in the future?

Looks as Jeremy Clarkson was on the right track. It’s my intention to keep my RR as long as it starts, my last car was a Volvo V70 which l gave up after 17 years. It was a petrol 2.4 litre and is still on the road!
We Brit’s still have to complain about our home products whilst the RR is a world leader. Last week a 2014 RR 4.4 diesel was offered by a MD with 60k mileage at £30000.?

It’s all in the politics.

They want us in electricars.

So diesel and petrol are vilified. Diesels emit less CO2 than petrol equivalents and the NOx levels and other emissions on euro 6 cars are now insignificant because of Ad Blue, EGRs, cats and DPFs.

I was also wondering earlier why flying is being targeted by the ecowarriors. Some say the co2 emissions for flying on a full 737 are about 115g/km per passenger, which if you are flying on your own is less than driving on your own in a 1.4 petrol golf, so not so bad.....

However if you are a family of 4 flying that’s 460g/km which is a lot more than a fully laden golf and double a Fattie.

So the moral is if you are going on holiday on your own it’s environmentally friendly to fly...... if you are taking the kids then cram them all into your petrol euro box or do what the rest of us do and just take the range rover.....

Which is why I will be doing my bit for the environment and driving SWMBO and the kids to the alps in my 4.4L V8 diesel Range Rover. According to an online calculator flying all 4 of us will generate 1.6t of Carbon driving will generate 0.75t vs about .44t for a golf.....

On average 2t of trees removes 7t of carbon dioxide, so I need to plans 200kg of trees...... which I’ve already done in the new garden. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Electric vehicles are being pushed for another reason. The EU decided to implement a tariff on motor manufacturers that had an average carbon output above 95g/km. In order to bring down the average, manufacturers can produce zero emission vehicles that will bring down the average of other vehicles produced that are for example 200g/km.
This means that all manufacturers will be producing some form of zero emission vehicle to avoid the tariff

If you follow the automotive industry, you will be aware that - in simple terms - by the end of this year European manufacturers have to hit a fleet emissions average of 95g/km of CO2 for the cars they sell across the region or face huge fines.

Cheapest L405(72k Miles TDV6) is booking at £21k at one of the big car auction places, 2x L322 Westminsters both 62 reg one with 83k Miles and one with 81k Miles both booking at around £13.5k, 2011 TDV8 Vogue 86k miles just under £10k.
56 reg 3.6 TDV8 Vogue with 139k, just over £3k.
Those are guesses, what they actually go for won't be a million miles off for any of them having seen a few Range Rovers go through recently, the Disco 4s seem to fare a bit better,RRS don’t make great money either.
The 4x4s that always seem to have loads of interest and go for very strong money are Honda CR-Vs, and Toyota RAV4s, and the ones that always sell for silly money,often way over book are Defenders and Landcruisers.
