Steering wheel stuck at maximum height.

My steering wheel has got Jammed up as high as it can go.
I can hear the motor turning but nothing happens.
It still moves in and out ok.
Has anyone else had this issue and how did the resolve it?
Thanks

There are some threads on the column adjustment about on here. Have a search, but you may find it has to do with the motor/gearing things on the column. IIRC not easy or cheap.

Hi just had this on an l322 tdv8 vogue, with the steering wheel housing panel removed (3 screws) you can access the winding motor, 2 screws down it drops - from there you can use a 10mm spanner to wind down the wheel to a set position,

I took the motor out for 3 weeks and there was no adverse effect to the car whilst driving. the repair - which lasted on ly 3 weeks was to dremel open the motor housing - inside is a 10p coin sized plastic gear wheel that slips on the centre spindle - there is a fix somewhere on line to weld in a pin to stop it spinning - I chem welded mine back on but as I say it lasted 3 weeks now just sits in the centre position - the alternative is a new gear/motor at £100 or so on ebay but for a 50p gear from RS Im way to tight to spend that amount. its no to be confused with the in/out common fault though - totally different but easy to confuse for an idiot like me. hope that helps

Thanks for the help.
I will pop the covers off and have a look tomorrow.
Hopefully I can sort it. It's the only thing wrong with the car at the minute so would be nice to get it sorted before the next big job comes along.
