New owner questions

Hello. I have done a search but not quite found the answers i'm looking for so hope others can advise

My new to me 2012 westminster is all ok so far having done about 500 miles in it so far.

One thing I noticed a couple of days ago. I went on a short trip to the local Halfords approx 1.5 miles. I was only in the shop a couple of minutes and when I came back out and got near to the vehicle I could small a definite strongish fume smell which I am sure had to be from my vehicle as the others were a few cars away. Is it likely that this was coming from the FBH to help the warm up from cold? I haven't done such a short trip since to know if it is every time or not.

The second thing is that the top tailgate closes with quite a thunk. It all fits well it just doesn't sound to good for a quality vehicle. The stops are there and seem adjusted ok though the ones that screw into the body are quite hard. I just wondered if this was how they all are or whether It would be worth getting some new stops. Thanks

Thank you. It's just getting to know a new vehicle.

Another question I forgot, Is there a known reputable online supplier of L322 service parts to OEM standard that the forum recommends?

My local factors with online search don't seem to come up with to many parts for them

Tailgate thud. Support the upper tail while closing and stop when just 3 or 4 inches from closed, then let go. It still makes a fairly firm thud but demonstrates some mechanical sympathy. Mike - MPx

Thanks for the tips.

I tried the FBH remote today as it was cold and I didn’t drive it anywhere today, I believe it worked ok. The inside had warm air after about 1/4 hr. it does make a lot of fan noise at times though, I guess that’s just how they are. If so I can see why it would want a half decent battery to work it !

I’m still trying to figure out the interior heating, the auto setting seems to vary a lot so have mainly been using manual settings.

Thanks for your comments

The centre console vent has it's own heater control and can be used to add a cool breeze in a warm car, or conversely an extra blast of warmer air.

Have a look at Harry's Garage Video on the L322 (youtube). It will tell you a few interesting things. And you may even come to love the thump of the tailgate Wink
