Didn’t expect this. Stopped a couple of times in services and had to go into and out of Milton Keynes to pick my sister up, traffic was good except where the M4 met the M5 where we queued for a short while (5-10mins). Then about 10miles of country lanes in Cornwall.

On motorways and A30 set cruise at 70mph and let it do it’s thing, arrived with this. MPG has definitely improved since having that manifold sensor replaced (are my other thread) 2012 4.4 TDV8 with 115k on the clock

Would be really interesting to see how that would actually calculate out at if you were to grim it to the top and see how much you used.

I find the on board computer sometimes lives in cloud cuckoo land.

But we shouldn't kid ourselves that filling it up and working it out that way is accurate as it also depends on how many miles we have actually driven. It does more or less take one of the variables though.

I try to use the same pump and work it out over a few fill ups,

till it clicks, write doen the mileage. Drive for 3/4 tank.
refill again til it clicks write down the mileage etc.

then calculate it out, seems the screen is approx 3mpg above what I routinely see in the calculted usage.

Can only dream of figures like that now I’ve made the jump to Petrol

Although I should add the more frequent visits to the forecourt are softened buy the lovely sound effect and experience of pushing the loud peddle harder into the Shag Pile

My D4 trip was more accurate than the FF, that was approximately 5% out where as the FF is nearer 10%.

Both far too optimistic I’m afraid

its surprising what mpg you can get out of a big tdv8 Mark but not as good as my tdv6

The trip computer mpg in my 4.4 12 plate is consistently 13% better than actual gps miles for brim to brim fill. Mine also does similar to ops Bristol to truro. Cheers

That’s amazing. I’m now angry with myself that I didn’t buy a 4.4.
My 3.6 does 26 if I’m lucky. Around town it’s more like 15. A petrol V8 would’ve been better than this! 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

I have just done a 700 mile round trip Scotland - London. The computer said 32.5 mpg, but brim to brim it worked out at 28 mpg, so about 13% less than the computer.
