Highest Supercharged mileages?

Just thought I’d start this - what are people’s mileages on the 4.2 supercharged engines?

I’m at 110k and had no idea of the longevity.

I have just seen a sport for sale on Facebook with 382k miles on it and original engine I think that will be winning for a while Current stable:

Highest mileage on this rolling thread is 182,000 on a 2007 SC.. and a fair few over 100k miles 👍🏻

I’m guessing it’s because fuel is cheaper and it’s much bigger but on the ‘other’ forum there are loads 200k plus in the us. Current stable:

Dan, we don't see many posts re 4.2 engine issues, just oil etc, Seems the best of the bunch IMHO, my caveat is properly maintained Thumbs Up

PS I am sure Sandy is on 187K or something and all his issues have been the usual running gear

Tbh I have noticed that - on my m62 based previous ff there was always a few people that knew about most issues and you could get a good meaningful answer and things to test within 48 hours...

With the 4.2 I’m guessing because it’s in a lot less vehicles and even less over here I and others seem to post posts and all you see is tumbleweed Smile to the extent I had to join the American forum for answers.

As I say no disrespect to this forum it’s just the way it is I imagine the 4.2 is about 5% all the ff on here. I still ask the questions on here and answer them myself for others to see if and when an answer presents Smile Current stable:

Could just be that the 4.2s are that good. Had mine for 5 years (65k miles) and nothing went wrong.... Mike - MPx

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE Supercharged Java Black

I’m now just over 161,000m on my 2007 4.2SC, which I’ve owned since it was 6 months old with 6,000m on it. She’s due for an MOT this week so I expect to replace some ball joints or similar as preventative maintenance, as I had the front droplinks replaced last year.

I also only ever use super unleaded, mostly Tesco 99 as I believe that helps. I’ve had one set of replacement spark plugs at 100,000m as it’s about the recommended mileage & they looked like new.

So far the only issues I’ve had are the supercharger coolant pump wired the wrong way, which is quite common and I replaced the catalysts a couple of years ago. Other than that it’s been regular servicing & preventative maintenance, as I really can’t find anything to replace her.

I really think the 2007 4.2 SC is the sweet spot for me, both for looks, ride, noise & performance. I don’t do diesel as I can’t put up with the vibration & spend a lot of my day looking at a screen, so prefer the look of the analogue dash with physical dials rather than a TFT screen.

You’re right about the lack of posts for 4.2SC as they are relatively rare & people don’t tend to post when everything’s ok - long may it last Thumbs Up

Possibly - it may be that it’s just as they are aging now they are starting to show Current stable:

That’s good to hear but things like you say the cats it looks like this engine eats them both mine were gone around 100k and piercing others from here or rr net 100k seems to be around the number which is shocking considering my m62 ff I just sold with 190k on original cat’s performing well enough for mot Current stable:

I think my cats blew after I ran out of fuel playing fuel gauge roulette, as my car backfired And there was a big cloud of smoke. Mileage was approx 130,000 at the time, so they were well used anyway.

Just approaching 100,000 miles in ours with no problems - we've had it for 2 years now and it's been totally reliable.

Again, only run super and the only things I've had to replace are the normal wear and tear items (bushes, brake pads, tyres etc). Major items changed in the last two years include: Radiator (leaking), air compressor (just worn out) and the SC pump (wired backwards, knackered).
