I have had no issues at in almost 3 years of ownership, now 5 years old with 46,000 miles and the drivers side sidestep has started working intermittently. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't attempt to come out and some times it starts coming out and immediately goes back in again.

Thanks for this, does anyone know if there is a difference between them being fitted as a part of the original build as opposed to being fitted later as far as the warranty is concerned? |

I doubt there would be any difference in the warranty companies eyes! Accessories fitted new or used are still accessories... Keep an eye on fleabay for a set of new motors... I did and got mine fixed for less than £200 |

I think that the steps are a dealer fit, even on a new car, therefore always considered an accessory |

Hi, my deployable side steps were doing the same a few weeks ago, must admit car hadn’t been washed for ages due to me being away for extended periods, anyway, gave it a good wash and power washed under the sills with steps in and steps out both sides, touch wood they seem to have worked fine since. The driver side step had started to make a “different” noise when deploying and retracting which has now gone since the power wash treatment. L405, MY14 3.0 V6 |
