I don't know what the touch screen graphics look like on pre 2010MY cars but you also appear to be running 2010MY touch screen and dash graphics on the carputer 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Thats correct i recreated the graphics in photoshop, each of the screens I have re-created from looking at photos and videos of the 2010 system.

Have you looked at Car-x ? Daveo and I went this route some time back... probably this time last year. Carx allowed the control of the computer from the dashboard inputs.

matt, did you use the bmw aux lead,i think a chap sells them on ebay, stil looking for a touch screen for you but they dont come up often damaged but one will turn up.i tink you will have to double up on the usb cctv interface if you want to use more then 4 cameras as they only come as 4 channel max, what was the brightness on that screen you was going to order.

Hi Dave

Yer i did the BM54 radio module upgrade to get the AUX in mode on the sound system. I found this to work on the camera system, it allows you to put 8 cameras in the car http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/J8A-new-8-channel-cc...2180wt_907

These are the 2 screens i am debating over:

you are correct it is not possible to do the AUX upgrade on the early BM54 units, i replaced my Land Rover BM54 unit with a BMW BM54 unit (they are different) got mine from here, but im sure you could find a BMW BM54 unit somewhere in the UK http://www.bimmernav.com/store/catalog/bmw...m-125.html

Once you have the BMW BM54 unit you need the AUX cable http://www.bimmernav.com/store/catalog/bmw...m-156.html this connects into the wiring harness that connects to the radio module and gives you the AUX mode on the radio

Works and sounds really good!

The BMW BM54 supports aux-in as of a production date of week (KW in German) 09, 2002 and ID3 tags as of week 35, 2005.

I have a guy that can do a SW/HW upgrade with original components to support aux-in and ID3 tags on RR radio modules for GBP180 which is about 1/2 of what a new BM54 costs.

The tape-in works just as well as the aux-in for a carputer, tho - especially with a resler interface. It works just fine as aux-in in general too, although you need a pre-amp for regular low-line audio inputs.

Just out of curiosity dave, why are you interested in the ID3 tags? You have all that and more on your carputer...

Hi Matt,
I would think the LinITX screen is more than enough - why would you need IP65 (that's nearly waterproof!).

Have you seen these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-2-0-4-Channel-DV...3a601568a0 ? Also much less expensive and you don't need a PCI slot.

Great work on the skin! Looks really, really good!

Hi mate, it's not the IP65 feature that was drawing me to the other screen, in fact I will be removing which ever screen I buy from it's housing, it's the actual brightness and sun light readability that I am most concerned with.

With regards to the USB DVR device, these devices only have one video capture chip in them, this means that if the one chip supports 30 frames per second this has to be devided between the 4 inputs meaning only a 5-7 frames per second per camera input which is no good for real time video viewing for off roading cams. With the PCI card these cards have one 30 frames per second chip per camera input meaning a total of 200-240 fps in total. Also when it comes to writing software to access the multi streams of live video it is much easier with the 1 chip per input as the cards with only 1 chip for multiple video streams accessing the video streams requires different filters because basically all 4 cameras share the same stream and you have to use cross over filters to access these streams which is much harder than the multi chip cards thar have one video stream per camera input.

Glad you like the skin, it's coming on really well.

Matt
