WIPERS SERVICE POSITION
Before changing a front wiper blade, the wiper
arms must be set in the �service� position as
follows;
Note: The Smart Key must remain in the
vehicle while wiper blades are replaced.
1. Ensure that the ignition is turned off.
2. Turn the ignition on then off again.
3. Immediately push the wiper control down
to start the single wipe operation and turn
on the ignition again. NOTE - while STILL HOLDING DOWN the wiper control.
The wipers will move to their service
position.
4. When the new parts have been fitted, turn
the ignition off. This will return the wipers
to park position.

I had the key in my pocket while I went round to the back to make the change, so it is not too picky.

+1 for the service position parking the rear blade in the middle. A real doddle. Just got some Bosch ones to replace the fronts. Any idea how you get the existing front ones off? They seem to be superglued to the arm!  SDV8 AB MY 2019

Fitted an ar24u just before Christmas, started to not wipe in line of sight , basically where it clips in . Bought a new one just now , bloody identical , doesn’t wipe in the backstroke . Any and all ideas welcome. Fooking things .

Just for reference, for the MY2017 onwards the blade fittings have changed to the quick release push button style.

The Bosch Aerotwin pack ( a 24" and a 20") for this model year is the Bosch A113S:

I tried to follow the instructions for the rear on my 2013 L405😩
But after trying to catch the wiper by opening the tailgate I decided in the end to remove the wiper blade complete with the arm.
Bit fiddly to reach the nut, but managed with a 13mm open ended spanner & a screwdriver to prise it off the spline.
Definitely easier in my opinion, hope that helps?
Blade was a Bosch H426 made especially for the L405

I can confirm that service mode works for MY2018+ too. The brake pedal doesn't have to be pressed.
So: with ignition off, press the Start button once and after it's on, once again to turn off. While pushing the wiper stalk down as to start the single wipe operation, turn on the ignition again. Both front and rear wipers will move to their service position. After servicing just turn the ignition off.

As mentioned above there are different front wiper blades depending on the MY. This is true of the rear also - although the size remains the same the connection to the wiper arm is different - as I learned to my cost when I ordered the wrong one recently. Rimmer Bros at least allows you to check against your VIN to make sure you order the right one. There are Bosch alternatives for both types too.

So, for MY2019 the correct replacement front wipers are Bosch Aerotwin A315S and the rear one is Valeo Silencio VR255. Ordered from https://www.autodoc.de/, the front ones costed £17.5 and the rear one £10... Shipping £8. Fun fact, the rear one is for Mercedes & Volkswagen vans!
