Bah Humbug

Am I alone in being a Bah Humbug ?

It's just all the hype (starting far, far too soon), the way people buy up food as if they were expecting a siege & throwing much of it away, spending money they have not got & so on.

& as for driving in Central London with the traffic..............

I do actually like Christmas, but low key, family & close friends but not the over the top JK style ones many people seem to have to have. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

saw your title and was eager to read your post...absolutely agree with you, xmas is to soon and to commercialised..

all my 3 boys are now grown up and basically have all they need so its a brain ache trying to find something that they would be pleased to have for xmas..

and then theres the excess food that you 'have' to eat over the xmas period... and of course having to mix with relatives you dont like ..

Bah Humbug

and couldn't agree more.

Wandered into an Aldi the other day for simple things like milk, and couldn't believe the chaos in their central isle "specials" bins. Thank (insert whatever word siuts) I don't go out shopping on Black Friday, it appeared near enough fisticuffs in there.

As for the day, it's some nibbles we like from around the world, home made if it all goes well, and an outdoor grill if the day is fine. Oh, and a glass or two of something nice. Cheers
Richard

Don't forget about the incessant 'It's CHRISTMAAAAAAAASSSSSS' From Slade and every man and his dog wearing Christmas Hats!!

Working in Plymouth at the moment and went to the Christmas Market with the intention of having a glass of Mulled Wine.
The last time I did that was in Paris at La Defense where it was 2 Euro for a glass.

Plymouth Christmas Market - 4 QUID for a plastic glass!!!! Censored

I’m with you chaps. Whole thing drives me nuts! I have 5 siblings and their partners between them there are 6 nephews and neices. All are comfortably off so I never have any clue what to buy them. Don’t get me started on the food - there’s two of us in this house and you’d think we were storing up for a seige.

Is this the corner where I can vent, Jeezo it’s just mental. Unlike you lads I have two wee ones, all I want is a quiet meal at home, now have to go to the in-laws, her brother has just told us his in-laws will be tagging along, everyone too polite to say no to him, they are just socially awkward AF, wish I could just stay home . Been told I’m not even allowed to drink, at least less chance of telling him he’s a dick...

I'll be having a very peaceful christmas. Very Happy

Just me and my two dogs, nothing lavish.
Family are almost 2000 k's away and I'm not spending any money on them either.

Having recently retired and moved further south(Tasmania), I'll wait for them to come to me whenever they decide to come. Smile Mr. Green

I agree about the madness that is christmas. Doing deliveries into 1 of our major supermarkets, the amount of food people buy for 1 1/2 days of businesses being closed is staggering. You think that some people(the majority) are buying for a platoon of people, not just family members. The waist is incredible here is well.

I love Christmas but do get annoyed about how early it all starts.

As a child, my parents followed the traditions of their Victorian parents and decorated the house and put up the tree on Christmas Eve. It was all taken down on 12th night.

I know of people who put their Christmas decorations and trees up at the end of November. It spoils the magic for me. 😕
